The idea works especially using capital L and lower case e. The o and the v are of course very similar upper/lower case.
There’s an example using fruit, and the brown example was made using coffee dregs (leftovers).
The images here are just examples. I’m sure other people will be much more creative in producing different interpretations and artworks. There’s vast potential to use nature and three-dimensional ideas – anything that can make the shapes.
Like many creative people, many ideas seem to come to me, through my subconscious, rather than my looking for them consciously, and this often happens in the night (waking me up) or when I wake in the morning, and also when I’m out walking or running, not thinking about much at all.
The 2020/Love realisation is certainly something that emerged in me, rather than my consciously seeking it. I wasn’t even thinking about it, nor had I been, except that in the 2-3 years before 2020, the year 2020 seemed to me that it could a year of ‘turning’ or change.
Others had commented the same about 2020 perhaps being a year of positive change, and some people drew attention to the ’20:20 vision’ terminology, referring to perfect eyesight or vision in humans.
Anyway, somehow, a few months ago I realised that the year 2020 can be interpreted, or ‘rendered’ or shown, as the word ‘Love’. I looked quite deeply at the time, end 2019 or early 2020, to see if the idea was ‘out there’, and it seemed not to be, which surprised me greatly.
And so I started to sketch it, and discuss it with people I know who work in creativity, design and ‘scriptwork’, and the images here are the initial results of our efforts.
the power of communications that have more than one meaning
The 2020 Love idea is a little like the letter ‘O’ and number/value ‘0’ (zero) reresenting the shape of the mouth when saying ‘oh’, or the number ‘3’ being so obviously a design representing what ‘three things’ means.
We see a similar double-meaning in ‘onomatopeia’, where a word sounds like its meaning, such as buzz, bang, howl, skate, pop, etc. Such words are popular and enduring.
Words and signs are used and shared more when they they stimulate our senses in more than one way.
I believe in the power of positive messages, associations, and in the power of love.
I also believe that 2020 seems to be a time of awakenings and transitioning in quite big positive ways for humanity and life on Earth.
And so the 2020/Love idea for me naturally developed so that anyone could create their own interpretations of 2020/Love and share them.
This was actually before the coronavirus pandemic, when my thinking was focused on suicide prevention and climate/anthropocene (sixth extinction). It still is, although the 202/Love idea is extremely flexible and it can mean lots of different very positive things to different people.
We are all different; it is important to remember.
The 2030/Love idea is obviously very timely given the pandemic lockdowns and easings, especially for children and young people; although also for anyone with time and interest to create a 2020/Love image or artwork.
It’s a very simple completely free easy idea. It’s immensely flexible. There are no websites, logins, passwords, or ‘ownerships’ of the idea. It’s completely free to use, to teach, to play with, and share as you wish.
